Emily works across strategic and operational planning, business and feasibility planning, and cultural investment strategy at AEA, helping clients clarify their thinking and build alignment within complexity. Her approach, informed by more than 15 years working inside arts and cultural organizations, is grounded in a deep understanding of organizational dynamics and a fundamental belief that cultural expression can be transformational for individuals and communities. She has contributed to projects for the School for Advanced Research, Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum, Segerstrom Center for the Arts, Lincoln Center Theater, Carolina Performing Arts at UNC Chapel Hill, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and Civis Foundation, among others.

Before joining AEA, Emily served led program and organizational strategy at BRIC (Brooklyn, NY) where she facilitated diverse, interdisciplinary teams to deliver programs and initiatives that expanded opportunity and deepened service to artists and local communities. She also previously led community engagement and marketing for MAPP International Productions, connecting the work of global, multidisciplinary artists to communities throughout the US.

Emily is a systems thinker, interested in defining culture as infrastructure that contributes to more equitable and resilient communities. At the organizational level, she is interested in governance models and organizational practices that allow for innovation, learning, and leadership to emerge.

Emily holds an MA in Arts Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University and a BA in Performance Studies from Bryn Mawr College. She has also pursued continued training in facilitation, change leadership, and futures thinking.
