Pro Bono Services

AEA Consulting offers pro bono consulting services to small arts and cultural organizations, initiatives, or individuals with a commitment to social impact. We encourage arts and cultural organizations, artists, collectives, and initiatives whose work supports and benefits groups and individuals that uplift BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, migrants and refugees, those with disabilities, incarcerated/formerly incarcerated, and other systemically minoritized groups to apply. AEA’s pro bono services are offered to those with limited resources or unable to afford paid consultancy.

AEA will support selected initiatives, organizations, or individuals working in the cultural and creative sector largely through a combination of materials and document reviews, due diligence and feedback, and ‘live’ workshops and meetings – though specific outcomes can be tailored to the specific needs of an organization or individual. Services may include:

• Advice on approaches to and methodology development for business planning, financial planning, market research and analysis, audience analysis, and impact evaluation;
• Support with financial planning and modeling;
• Support for governance and management structures development and reviews;
• Due diligence review and advice on funding applications, budgeting, business plans, organizational strategic plans, stakeholder engagement, strategic partnerships, and income generation strategies;
• Advice on legacy and creative asset management strategies across multiple formats;
• Due diligence on capital project planning;
• Live workshops, brainstorm sessions, and training sessions on key elements of strategic and business planning, digital governance, and impact evaluation; and/or
• Support with networking with other organizations in the sector.

AEA’s selection of pro bono projects will prioritize those that meet the following criteria:

• Arts, culture, and/or creative sector organizations and unincorporated groups (e.g., individuals and collectives) seeking to realize an arts or cultural project with a social impact goal.
• Either led or founded by artists, creatives, and educators or with some direct engagement with artistic communities.
• A designated project leader to serve as a point of contact for the course of the pro bono engagement.
• $2 million operating budget or lower;
• Organizations and groups serving BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, migrants and refugees, those with disabilities, incarcerated/formerly incarcerated, and other systemically minoritized groups;
• Located in geographies where AEA has an office – at present, in the United Kingdom and the United States.
