Joe Lin-Hill

Senior Associate, Buffalo, NY

Dr. Joe Lin-Hill served as Deputy Director of the Buffalo AKG Art Museum (Albright-Knox Art Gallery) from 2013 to 2023 where he steered strategic planning efforts, economic impact research, capital project planning, diversity and inclusion objectives, and championed a variety of new initiatives, such as Public Art, an Innovation Lab, performing arts programming, and collaborations with other Western New York cultural organizations. In addition to managing a range of departments at the Buffalo AKG, Joe organized several major acquisitions and exhibitions for the museum, as well as other exhibitions in the Western New York community with collaborating organizations.

Joe previously managed his own management and curatorial consulting practice. He was the principal consultant to Sotheby’s auction house for its launch of Pan-Asian contemporary art sales in New York (2005-2008) and served on Robert Storr’s curatorial support team for the Venice Biennale (2005-2007). Prior to this, Joe was the first staff member of AEA Consulting’s New York offices, where he advised a broad range of flagship cultural organizations, such as The British Museum and New York City Opera, as well as funders such as The Pew Charitable Trusts and the J. Paul Getty Trust. Joe received his PhD from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, and an A.B. in social studies from Harvard College.
