Laura Gildenstern

Research Analyst

Laura’s work spans strategic planning, feasibility studies, and market/landscape research for cultural institutions at AEA, specializing in research and quantitative and qualitative data analysis to support cultural institutions in making data-driven decisions.  She has contributed to projects across AEA’s global portfolio in the Middle East, Europe, North America, and Asia, for clients such as Art Basel, The Frick Collection, and Arts Council Ireland.

Before joining AEA, Laura worked on cultural activation and cultural strategy projects across the Middle East, Europe, and North America, analyzing cultural policies and governance structures to inform strategic recommendations. Her background also spans both the administrative and artistic sides of the performing arts, having interned in the artistic direction of the Vienna State Opera and strategic marketing at the Bavarian State Opera. As an artist, she has performed as an orchestral violist across Europe and North America.

Laura is interested in the role of the arts to foster creativity and expression, connect cultures, and bridge divides. This interest extends into cultural policy and diplomacy, and into how the arts and cultural sector can strengthen ties between institutions, governments, and the public. Her interest in policy and international cooperation also reaches beyond the cultural sector: as a UN Volunteer, she has contributed to training materials and funding proposals supporting international cooperation on crime prosecution, reflecting a broader commitment to work that connects research, policy, and diplomacy across fields.

Laura holds two B.As from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Music Performance and German, and an M.A. in Arts Management and Administration from SDA Bocconi in Milan. She is fluent in English, German, and French, with an advanced level of Italian, and basic Russian.
