Yale’s Beinecke Library Acquires Collection of Lincoln Photos from the Meserve-Kunhardt Foundation
March 29, 2015
The Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Yale University announced that it will acquire one of the largest private collections of 19th-century American photography, devoted primarily to Lincoln and the Civil War, from the Meserve-Kunhardt Foundation.
On the occasion of the Meserve-Kunhardt Foundation’s 10th anniversary in 2012, AEA facilitated a strategic planning process to chart a productive and sustainable path for the organization and its collections. The overarching goal of the plan was to place the Meserve-Kunhardt Collection with a preeminent institution that would steward it professionally and deploy it for educational purposes.
